the biggest beat battle ever

30+ producers/ dj’s/ beatmakers are getting together with their crews to compete for a record deal with the anodyne electric co. what started as an idea to support local beatmakers has grown into one of the largest producer invitationals Los Angeles has ever seen. This beat consortium takes place Jan. 16th 2011, and is sure to be a amazing start to the new year. It only cost’s 5 bucks to get it, but you must be 21+ to attend. Doors open at eight, and the battle starts at 9pm. The crews will battle through out the night to determine who will preform in the finals. The final battle will determine which crew will be featured on an upcoming 7″ from the Anodyne Electric Co. Posse up will go down at the Mountain Bar in Chinatown, LA.

Macedonia label brings West Coast beats to eastern Europe

Nestled just north of Greece, and rising from the ashes of the former Yugoslavia, Macedonia is a young nation eager to share in the global culture of music. One innovative Macedonian producer saw the internet as a way to transcend borders both physical and ideological. Emil Hadji Panzov ( aka Tripnotic ) started the Filter label in 2007. His vision of a digital only record label, spanning genres and continents,  was several years ahead of its time. The first act signed to the FIlter Label was uk drum and bass producer Little birds, and a slew of international talent soon followed. From the uptempo dance music of germany’s Dirty Cat and Macedonia’s own Game Over, to the laid back stylings of Nsok and Abstract Butta fingas two americans representing the so-cal scene, Filter Label releases quality electronic music of various styles. New releases by Daddy Day Care and Akasha FX continue the tradition of diversity that makes Filter Label so unique.

In the past three years filter label has released tons of great music culminating in a double-compilation titled simply “Filter Presents the Best of 2010 vol. 1 & 2″ At just $10 (£6.99) each these two compilations are a great addition to any serious music collection.

With dublab and Low End Theory curating a full stage of rising talent, the 12th annual Eagle Rock Music Festival is sure to be the biggest showcase of innovative electronic music southern california has seen all summer. Nosajthing, the gaslamp killer, dj Nobody, Ras G, Free the Robots, Samiyam, Daddy Kev, Nocando, Dibiase and Teebs are joined by a big heap of indie rock bands set to perform in the western relms of  Colorado blvd Saturday, october 2nd.
